This beautifully built and maintained French privateer [some say ‘licenced pirate… ! ] replica Schooner of war launched during the major Brest International Maritime Festival of 1996.
This study made before La Recouvrance was launched, to show what a dashing ‘Goélette’ [schooner] La Recouvrance would look when rigged and under sail.

Shown here sailing in Le Goulet de Brest (‘the neck’, entrance to the extensive roads of Brest, to this day still a home of the French Navy), this superb replica was built as the result of a bar room bet with a shipwright.

La Recouverance was launched with great ceremony at the vast Maritime Festival Brest ’96.
Brest remains her home port, it’s possible for you to sail on this fine schooner.
