A Union Castle Line regular port of call, Cape Town is instantly recognisable to anyone who familiar with Table Mountain.

This splendid Union Castle Line ship represents very well, the classic final age of steam ships and is a rare example of a ‘Frickers’ watercolour.

Most of the Union Castle fleet were named after British castles.

The Union Castle fleet were by standards of those times, good, comfortable, solid and seaworthy ships that were well manned, we shall not see their like again…

Llangibby Castle :

was a passenger liner, she was operated between 1929 to 1954.

‘Llangibby Castle‘ was named after the castle at Llangibby also known as Tregrug Castle, in Monmouthshire, Wales. The ship represents an advanced design for her day and was constructed by Harland and Wolff at their shipyard in Govan, Glasgow.
