The painting was produced at the request and with the full cooperation of the only survivor, Flight Sergeant John Lobban. John asked me to produce a painting he intended to become a family heirloom.
Halifax heavy bomber aircraft was lost on it’s first mission being shot down by a German night fighter that had been radar directed to the interception point.
Painting commissioned by the late Mr. John Lobban eye witness, formerly Flight Sergeant and navigator of this aircraft.
He was the only survivor of the seven man crew who had trained together for 2 years in Canada.
